Privacy Policy

Somnia ("the App", "we") is a mobile application that lets you keep your dreams on your device and read them through Sommy's interpretations. This Privacy Policy describes what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1) DATA COLLECTED

Anonymous user ID — A non-personally-identifiable UUID created via Supabase. We do not collect email, phone, name, or location. If you sign in with Apple, the anonymous email proxy assigned by Apple is used.
Dream content — Texts you tell Sommy and Sommy's interpretations are stored locally on your device. The dream text is sent to OpenAI for AI interpretation only.
Usage statistics (Firebase Analytics — Google, US) — Screen views, feature usage, and general events recorded under the anonymous user ID. IDFA (advertising identifier) is intentionally disabled; we do not perform cross-device tracking.
Crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics — Google, US) — Crash and error info, device model, iOS version.
Subscription status (RevenueCat) — StoreKit transaction identifiers used to verify Premium entitlement.
Audio data (microphone) — Speech-to-text runs entirely on-device; audio data is not sent to any server.

2) HOW DATA IS USED

AI dream interpretation generation (OpenAI — US-based)

We never sell, rent, or share your data for advertising. No third party uses your data to train their models.

3) DATA STORAGE AND SHARING

On your device: All dream entries and chat history are stored in a local SQLite database.
Supabase (EU): Only the anonymous user ID, subscription status, and monthly usage counters.
OpenAI (US): Your dream text is sent to the API for interpretation only. OpenAI does not use API content to train its models; request logs are retained for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring (see OpenAI Enterprise Privacy).
Google / Firebase (US): Anonymous event and error data.
Apple StoreKit + RevenueCat (US): Subscription purchase and verification.

4) YOUR RIGHTS (GDPR / CCPA)

Deletion: Settings → "Delete All My Data" — deletes your anonymous account and all data with one tap.
Data portability: Settings → "Export Data" — download all your dreams, reports, and settings as a JSON file.
Objections and complaints: somnia.support@gmail.com — we respond within 30 days.

5) CHILDREN

Somnia is not intended for children under 12. It must not be used without parental consent.

6) SECURITY

Your data is transmitted over HTTPS/TLS. Requests sent to Supabase and OpenAI are signed with the user's identity. The local database is protected by iOS's app-based sandbox.

7) CRISIS CONTENT HANDLING

If text expressing self-harm or suicidal ideation is detected, the app does not generate AI interpretation. Instead, it shows mental health helpline information (988 in US/Canada, 182 in Türkiye, findahelpline.com internationally).

8) CHANGES

Material changes to this policy will be announced in the app and the "Last updated" date on this page will be updated.
